Slow Roll Week 10: The Flats

As we continue to barrel through this booming, sprawling Slow Roll season, we pause to return to an area of town we haven't visited in a few years: The Flats.

The main reason we haven't been back lies in the rehabilitation work undertaken the last two years on the Center Street Bridge, which divides the small district in two. The Flats, in fact, is such a small neighborhood that we must go outside of it to complete anything resembling a ride of normal length.

Next Monday we will kick things off from Canal Basin Park in Irishtown Bend, near the Flat Iron Cafe and just south of Settler's Landing. As usual, we will set up by 6 PM and the ride will depart at 7.

There is a small parking lot connected to the park, otherwise there should be plenty of on-street parking available in the area.

TECH NOTES: If your bike is in need of service, PLEASE have it serviced BEFORE you arrive at one of our events. There seems to be some confusion about the function and purpose of our dedicated SAG team. They are there to help people out during rides, but were never intended to function as a bike shop for people to bring broken bikes before a ride to service so the owner can participate in a Slow Roll. The kind of service they can provide before a ride is rudimentary at best, and we ask that you not burden them with additional work and drain on our supplies. If you have a breakdown DURING THE RIDE, they will absolutely be glad to help out.
