Keep checking this page for the latest info on upcoming pre-season rides before we announce big news heading into the 2023 season.
Next up: our fifth and final Cold Roll of the 2023 "between" season, this time starting in historic downtown Bedford. We had a great tuneup ride last spring in Bedford, and we'll leap into spring this year following (hopefully) one last romp through the cold and sleet.
We'll start the ride from the parking located at 19 Tarbell Avenue, located behind The Broadway Cyclery (665 Broadway Ave in Bedford). There's a city parking lot located directly across the street, so use that and let's leave the Cyclery's back lot open for riders to gather.
This is again not the fully supported ride you know and love from our regular season events. Expect a more casual affair, where we will stop to take group photos and if someone gets a flat tire, we all stop and wait while the problem is addressed. We won't be rolling with a full compliment of squad and we'll only be carrying a small amount of tools and supplies, so it's best to come prepared.
While you're here, come check out the Broadway Cyclery! They carry a full line of Surly, Fuji and Brompton bikes and offer bike service and accessories.
It's time for another entry in our off-season series of cold weather rides. This time we're going way outside our normal sphere and heading out to beautiful downtown Solon in the Southeastern corner of Cuyahoga County. We only have one cold roll left after this, so if you haven't experienced a winter roll, come out and join us for this one.
Relatively mild conditions are expected for us Sunday as we meet in Solon Community Park, and you can probably keep the snow tires at home. We'll kick off from near the picnic pavilion at the end of the main parking lot, so look for us there.
This will be shorter than a normal Slow Roll and we expect the ride to take around an hour to complete. As with all of our off-season rides, we're on a more casual footing, and we don't expect anything like a full complement of squad along to guide the way, so we ask riders to come as prepared as possible for the event, with spare tubes for their bike and frame pumps as basic necessities if you have them. Solon roads aren't quite as treacherous as Cleveland streets, so keep that in mind as well.
Join us for our slowest roll of the year, the Cleveland Kurentovanje parade! It's so slow, that we'll ride our bikes in circles around each other for about a half mile. At the end we'll enjoy all the fun the Kurentovanje Festival has to offer.
Don't want to bring your bike? We'll also need walkers to carry our banner!
We'll gather at Saint Martin de Porres starting at 11am and the parade will step off at NOON. Look for yellow Squad shirts as we line up outside the high school.
For the unfamiliar, Kurentovanje (koo-rehn-toh-VAHN-yeh) is a multi-day "Slovenian Mardi Gras" festival, celebrating the end of winter and the beginning of spring.
