About the event
We're already ten rides into our 2023 season, give or take a rain delay here or there, and we're champing at the bit to get rolling again following a week of bizarre weather that briefly cut into our fun. To that end, we make our annual return to the weird, the beautiful, the unusual and the eccentric side of Cleveland: Waterloo. It's always a unique and interesting experience for riders in this part of the city, and Monday should be no different.
This year we're partnering with Waterloo Arts, who'll be hosting an open house for Slow Rollers before the ride. You'll be able to explore this art organization's gallery and cafe, and volunteers will be on hand to provide info about what they do and how you can get involved. As a true creative hub, Waterloo Arts is responsible for a lot what we think of when we think about the Waterloo Arts District as a whole. They also put on the annual Waterloo Arts Fest, one of the best summer festivals in Cleveland, period. So you won't want to miss the chance to see what they've got going on Monday.
We gather at 6 PM for this ride, with a rollout at 7 PM. We do ask that riders not all crowd the main plaza at the corner of Waterloo and E 152, as it's really not designed for the kinds of crowds we bring most Mondays. You can use the adjacent public lot behind the Waterloo Arts building on E. 152, as that's likely where we'll be starting our ride from. Or you can simply wander the neighborhood and take in the sights. Although many local businesses are closed in the area on Mondays, a few bars with food, like the Millard Fillmore Presidential Library and the SS&W Boardwalk, will be happy to serve you.
There is a _lot_ of public parking in this area. Just be mindful of private parking lots like the one at Beachland Ballroom; another public lot is located further east, near E. 161st Street.
