About the event

After taking the first week of July off with the understanding that the holiday in the middle of the week would prompt a lot of our riders (and squad) to get out of town for a few days, we're back Monday, July 8 with our annual visit to Old Brooklyn, this time much earlier in the year than we usually roll through.

Cleveland's southernmost neighborhood -- and one of its largest by physical size -- Old Brooklyn is an interesting crossroads, a place currently booming with new faces, passions and energy, and yet one tied inextricably to the past, a place for families who have lived here for generations. We'll show you a lot of it Monday, from the leafy, stately eastern stretches to the cobblestones in the west, with a hint at the eclectic energy brewing on streets like Broadview, Pearl and State Road.

We are setting up a little earlier than normal, because this week we will have FrankieLynn Hot Dogs on hand to help out with your pre-ride hunger, so drop by Loew Park a bit early and make sure you grab one of their innovative, locally sourced dogs (vegan franks also available). We are also partnering with Old Brooklyn Community Development Corporation this week to help highlight local stories and places you might want to know more about. Come get to know Old Brooklyn before the ride.

We will have our booth up by approximately 5:30, so drop by any time after that. The ride will depart at 7 PM and will go for about ten miles.

TECH NOTES: Our dedicated Support and Gear team would greatly appreciate it if you came to the ride with your bike in decent shape. This means: check to see if the tires are properly inflated (check your tire's sidewall for its proper PSI rating), check to see if your brakes work, and check to see if your chain is rotating smoothly and that you can freely change gears, if you have them. Doing this before a ride will hugely help us prevent breakdowns during the event.
