About the event
"Clevelanders don’t cross the river, and when we do, we don’t go very far," the website Thrillist once wrote of our town. The Cleveland writer Scott Raab once offered his own example of the East/West divide that remains one of the most quintessentially Cleveland things about the 216: "East and West Siders didn’t mix, save at ball games and Cleveland State University, where I met Wife One. Her parents had never set foot on the East Side until the day of our wedding."
We tend to disagree with such stark assessments, simply based on the fact that our first two rides of 2024, both on the city's east side, have seen a lot of westsiders on two wheels having a great time east of Public Square. Has Cleveland changed since Thrillist drew a hard line down our center? Or has Slow Roll changed Cleveland? Our mission, after all, is exactly this one: bridging communities with bike rides. You'll find it stamped on everything we do.
Next Monday, we travel was down to W. 132nd and Lorain Avenue and we invite ALL of Cleveland to join us. We're West Side. We're East Side. We're kind of Central as well. We do north and south for a _small additional fee_. Come help us break down the walls of civic containment next week at Jefferson Park! You have nothing to lose but your culturally imposed civic borders!
We'll do the same thing as always, gather at 6 PM, ride at 7. Look for the booth with the t-shirts, calendars and stickers.
This will be our last ride for two weeks, so if you've missed us so far this year, this is a great opportunity to join. If you haven't already registered for 2024 rides, click below:
